What is lien amount in SBI | State Bank of India lien amount | How to remove lien amount

Lien amount are the amount blocked by your bank for various reasons like:

1 Outstanding Loan (like total loan amount or EMI amount)

2 Overdue charges like debit card charges, non-maintenance of minimum balance charges, demat account charges (if it is a 3-in-1 account within the same organization), account maintenance charges, ASBA, amount held by the bank in illegal transactions , etc.

In this case he does not have sufficient balance in his bank account to meet his bank obligations, thus in this case the bank put Rs.15,245 in his bank account as lien balance, which means he has to pay Rs. 15,245 to the bank.

On 10th August he had Rs 26,05.15 in his bank account, remember they deposited the money in his bank account after he got the SI failure message from the bank.
If you check point number 2, they have the lien Amount of Rs.15,245 which is equivalent to the loan EMI amount.
So, If you deduct Rs. 26,050.15 from Rs. 15,245 you will get Rs. 10,805.15 which is the actual amount in his bank account.
Hence, in most of the cases, the lien amount is the liability that you have to pay to your banks. If you have purchased something using ASBA (Application Supported by Blocked Amount) then your blocked amount is shown as lien amount till the settlement.
If you want your lien amount to be released in an ASBA case, you will need to cancel your application.
In some cases if some transactions credited or debited from your bank account are found suspicious by the bank, in that case they have blocked or frozen your bank account, you will have to provide valid proof to the bank to unfreezes your bank account.
In most of the cases the lien amount appears in your bank account if you have some obligations towards the bank and you do not have sufficient bank balance to meet the bank obligations.
Once you deposit an amount equal to the lien amount in your bank account, it is automatically closed or settled.
